The two suspects were arrested at Austin View at around 2pm.
According to the SAPS provincial spokesperson, Captain Tsinyane, the police managed to arrest the suspects with help from the tracker unit.
“The police followed the information which led them to Corgi Street in Austin View, Midrand. It was claimed that a truck loaded with laptops was hijacked at Allandale Road. The hijackers used a silver Corsa bakkie and a white BMW. The hijackers escorted the truck up until it reached one of the houses where they unloaded the laptops,” she said.
At the scene, the police recovered 358 laptops, two pistols, a rifle and a set of Metro Police uniforms. Four vehicles were also impounded.
Police officers are still searching for the truck and hope to make more arrests. Both suspects, aged between 35 and 40, are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of stolen motor vehicles and hijacking.
