COMMUNITY members of the Greenfield RDP houses came to the rescue of a woman who was being attacked by a teenage boy on August 12.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, the community rushed to the scene at 5.30pm when they heard screams for help coming from a woman in the open veld between Birchleigh North and the RDP houses.
Norkem SAPS detained an 18-year-old male suspect for attempted robbery. The woman was walking in the open veld when she was attacked by the male suspect, using physical force. He also demanded money from the victim, Molokomme said.
During the scrambling between the victim and the suspect, the woman shouted for help and that was when people rushed to the scene and managed to capture the suspect. Norkem SAPS was called and the suspect handed over to them.
