A woman was left severely injured and bleeding on her hands after an attacker robbed her at knife point of her cell phone.
According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, the police were called to the scene on Milner Street in Spartan on August 14 at about 4pm.
“When the police arrived, they found a female victim who was severely injured on her hands. “The victim later pointed out and identified the suspect who robbed her at knife point of her cell phone.”
He was arrested on the scene.
In a second robbery incident the same day, a taxi driver helped to catch a suspect who was chasing a 17-year-old school boy after failing to rob the student.
“At about 3.30pm, a teenage boy, who was coming from school, was approached by two suspects at the taxi rank on Pretoria Road. They tried to take his cell phone from him. During the squabble for the phone, the phone fell and the victim managed to flee with his phone but one of the suspects ran after him,” Mtshali said.
A taxi river who witnessed the incident, gave chase and managed to catch the suspect chasing the boy. The driver called police who arrested the suspect for attempted robbery.
In a third incident on the same day, a man was arrested at 4.30pm after he attempted to break into a car parked at Cavendish Glen Mall. He was caught in the act by a security officer and the police were called.
