A man in possession of cocaine worth R2 000 was arrested at the Pick n Pay Shopping Centre on Soutpansberg Road in Van Riebeeck Park on Monday.According to the spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the SAPS Gauteng Provincial Task Team made the arrest at about 10am.
“The police were patrolling along Soutpansberg Road when they saw a suspicious black Toyota Yaris with a male occupant driving into the parking area of the centre. Upon searching the suspect and the car, six small plastic bags containing a the cocaine were found inside the vehicle.
The 37-year-old man will face a charge of possession of drugs.
In other arrests made from August 22 to 24, Norkem Park SAPS arrested 14 suspects for a range of crimes, including four for assault with intent to cause injuries to a person, two for common theft, two for drunken driving, one for common assault, one for possession of dagga, one for possession of an unlicensed firearm and another one for possession of a stolen car.
