THE police are looking for a woman and man who tricked their victim by pretending to be police before robbing him of R10 000 cash on May 13.
The victim alleges that on the day at about 10am he had just withdrawn R10 000 from the bank and walked along Pretoria Road when he was approached by a woman.
“The victim said the woman asked him whether he saw the money on the ground. The victim replied no.
“The woman pointed to the ground and there was money there. She said to the victim that since they saw it together, they might as well go somewhere private to split it up equally,” Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesman for Kempton Park SAPS, said.
The victim walked with the woman until they got to Willow Street, where a maroon Toyota Corolla pulled up with three men inside, pretending to be police. They were told to get into the car.
When the man refused, he was pushed inside the vehicle. The men robbed him of his money and sped off.
According to the victim, the men were not in police uniform. The woman was light in complexion, tall and slender. She was about 35 years old and had spots all over her face, had a bad mouth and a “phuza face” (an alcoholic face). She was also wearing a head cloth.
One of the men was short, chubby and light in complexion. He is about 38 years old, wore a light brown jacket and a shirt and spoke in isiZulu and sePedi.
“These are one of the tricks criminals play to get people’s attention. We urge the community not to fall victim to this trick.”
