The Tembisan – it speaks to you

The first week of September 2014 saw Tembisa residents getting their hands on the newly revamped The Tembisan.

The Tembisan now showcases Caxton’s excellent standard of newspaper design, high standard of journalism, its dedication to reach and serve its communities, and living up to its motto of excellence. These qualities are complimented by Caxton’s dedication to providing a quality product to its advertisers using this local newspaper as an advertising and marketing platform.

The revamp project was also steered towards one specific goal – giving Tembisa residents a newspaper that speaks to them. It included numerous months of planning, focusing on reader input via focus groups and questionnaires, studying other publications and identifying and implementing successful concepts that work, discarding those that don’t and profiling Tembisan readers and advertisers.

Content has always been king and editorial quality will further improve with journalists covering in-depth stories, exposing what needs to be exposed and giving acknowledgement to achievers.

“As journalists, readers let us into their homes and lives. They trust us to tell the stories of their joy, pain, difficulties and concerns. They trust us to find the right words for what they want to say. That is a significant responsibility and one we take seriously. It is a privilege to write Tembisa residents’ stories. We now have the opportunity of telling those stories via a reader-friendly newspaper, attracting readers and advertisers,” said The Tembisan Editor, Marietta Lombard.

Content, in the future, will also include stories written by our readers. The #TembisanMyTembisa page will be dedicated to featuring stories written by residents. The ‘wall of remembrance’ will give readers the opportunity to honour their loved ones who passed away, and a sports betting corner will attracts the fanatic sports betters in Tembisa.
