Promising future for Tembisan footballer
Motshana U/13 FC's player, Lindo Madlopha, was scouted to join the national Bantwana U/17 team in two year's time.
Madlopha made her mark during the Mamelodi tournament, when she charmed the Bantwana team coach Carol Botas, who noticed her talent and scouted her.
The grade 5 pupil from Welamlambo Primary School, told The Tembisan that she was prepared to show off her football talent throughout the country.
“I always had a passion for the game. It is this love for the game that will drive me through the my quest to become a professional player for Banyana Banyana when I grow up. I do not have any doubt about this, as it is something I want to do, not something that is expected from me. I do not feel obliged to do this because of someone’s else dream,” she said.
Madlopha added that she started playing soccer when she was in grade R.
The 11-year-old Madlopha, with skinny legs that incapable of kicking a ball, looks like a real footballer.
Her team coach, Lordwick Motshana, said he will make sure to follow up on her school work so that she passes.
“I want her to complete her primary schooling to be able to join the national Bantwana team. I am proud of this child. From the bottom of my heart, I know she is an asset in football,” he said.
Motshana said he picked Madlopha as one of his players during the Gloria Hlalele school tournament.
“I thank the Welamlambo school officials for allowing the child join our team. Her talent has also been seen by professional coaches. Her being scouted from my team is an achievement and forms part of my dream to produce the best players from Tembisa,” he said.
Motshana is appealing to local coaches to help and support the young football players within the community.
