Tjale conned out of R120 000
Mr William Tjale was conned out of R120 000 in life savings.
The bogus taxi owner who swindled Mr Tjale out of his money is currently being hunted by the SAPS.
The 52-year-old victim bought a Toyota Quantum from a man, who later sold the vehicle to another person.
It is believed the suspect sold the vehicle as he was facing financial problems.
According to Mr Tjale, he realised something was wrong when he tried to change the ownership of the vehicle.
“I found out that my vehicle had been sold to someone else when I applied for a change of ownership,” Mr Tjale told The Tembisan.
“The suspect gave me the vehicle after I had paid for it. I purchased the vehicle to transport staff,” he said.
The suspect managed to trace the whereabouts of the taxi and lied to the driver to gain possession of the vehicle.
“He told my driver that he was only going to use the vehicle for a short time. He promised to return the vehicle,” said Mr Tjale.
The suspect disappeared with the vehicle.
The registration number on the vehicle is YGG 999 GP and the suspect is believed to be hiding somewhere in Ga-Mphahlele, Limpopo.
