WHAT started with sharing a beer with friends, turned into two bloody ordeals at a tavern in Birchleigh North on Sunday.
Two men were stabbed with broken beer bottles an hour apart at the same pub on the corner of Emberen and Avril streets. According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, said in the first incident, two friends were having beers together when they had an argument.
As the argument worsened, the victim left the tavern to go home but his friend followed him and stabbed him in the face. A suspect was arrested shortly after noon. The second incident occurred an hour later at 1pm when another pair of friends also had an argument.
“The suspect also stabbed his friend with a beer bottle and damaged the victim’s car, smashing his window using a golf stick,” Molokomme said.
The 26-year-old was arrested for assault with intent to cause injuries to a person and malicious damage to property.
In another incident on September 12 at 7.30pm, the owner of a house on Handel Street in Kempton Park West stabbed a stranger whom he found in his house.
“The home owner questioned the victim about why he was in his home and without being answered by the victim, the owner grabbed a knife and stabbed the man in the upper body.
The intruder was taken to a local hospital for treatment and the owner was arrested.
