The Ivory Park SAPS recovered two stolen motor vehicles over the weekend.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the first suspected stolen vehicle was recovered by some community members at Ivory Park, Extension 6, during the early hours of Saturday morning last week.
“The residents phoned the police about the white Toyota Corolla parked in a yard. It was established that the vehicle was reported as stolen at the station in November last year. The residents apprehended the three male suspects and waited for the police to detain them. The second vehicle was recovered at a scrap yard next to Kaalfontein Primary School on Sunday. The Ivory Park police were patrolling the area when they were notified by a tracker unit. They spotted a black BMW with the registration number BF36BL GP entering the scrap yard with two suspects. The police stopped the vehicle and the suspects were arrested,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela added that it was found that the vehicle was hijacked along Olifantsfontein Road, near the N1.
“All five suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles,” she concluded.
