on the run after killing his girlfriend
Promisa Mbalenhle Ndlovu (29) was found dead, with her throat cut, in Kanana, Extension 4, next to Phomolong on Monday morning. It is alleged that a 38-year-old suspect, allegedly her boyfriend, stabbed the victim and slit her throat with a kitchen knife.
The incident happened at around 7am. It is believed the suspect and victim had a heated argument before the incident occurred. According to the suspect’s niece, Betty Mauwane, the couple was inside the house arguing about relationship issues.
“This morning, my uncle went to fetch Ms Ndlovu from her home, after he promised to buy her a new phone. He had broken her phone some days ago. “They had a heated argument. I became scared and went to the spaza shop to buy airtime so I could inform my elders of what was happening. While standing at the spaza shop, my uncle (the suspect) ran past me.
“I asked him where he was going, he said he would come back. There was blood on his hands,” she said.
Mauwane added that another of her uncles was inside the house washing dishes. “He went outside to pour water. He was then locked outside of the house,” she added.
When the suspect opened the door, he pushed the uncle out of the way and fled the scene. It is believed the victim was the mother of a grade 1 pupil. Rabie Ridge SAPS spokesman, Const Jacob Nhlongo, said a case of murder was opened. The police asked residents to not take the law into their own hands.
“The suspect has been convicted of murder before and was out on parole. He had to check in regularly with the police. We appeal for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect,” Nhlongo said.
