Woman gang-raped in Ivory Park

A 28-year-old woman was allegedly raped along a street in Ivory Park, Extension 14, next to Mikateko Primary School on Sunday last week.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning.

W/O Sekgobela said the victim claimed she was returning from watching soccer at a local tavern. She was accompanied by two male friends when they met six men.

“It is believed two of the six suspects grabbed the victim’s friend, while the others took her away. It is claimed five males took turns raping her,” she said.

The SAPS is appealing to residents with any information to come forward.

“We urge women to stop walking on the street at night,” said W/O Sekgobela.

Anyone with information can contact the Ivory Park SAPS on 011 990-9600, 08600 10111 or SMS crime line on 32211.
