Peanut butter truck driver, load missing

The empty truck was recovered in Bredell on Friday

THE driver of a truck transporting peanut butter is still missing after the empty truck was found in Bredell on Friday.

According to Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, a tracker signal activated of the articulated truck led EMPD Intervention Unit members to Bredell where the driverless truck was found with its load of peanut butter gone.

The signal was activated after the driver could not be contacted for hours on Friday. He failed to deliver the peanut butter in Kempton Park.

“The truck owner from Randfontein was located and the truck handed over to him,” Kgasago said.

“Investigations led the metro police to Petit where four foreign nationals were found in possession of some of the load presumed to be from the recovered truck. In-depth investigations are underway to locate the driver as well as finding out how the load left the truck,” Kgasago said.

The four suspects were detained at Benoni Police Station.
