Man stabbed while helping stranded wife on highway near airport

The assailant fled with only his cell phone

A man was stabbed in the chest and robbed of his cell phone while he was helping his wife on the highway on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Emer-G-Med paramedics, the man’s wife’s car had broken down at the R21/R24 split at OR International Airport.

“The husband was loading her things into his vehicle when he noticed someone walking past them. He did not pay attention to him. But the man came back moments later and stabbed the man once in his chest, stole his cell phone and ran away.”

The man, who wasn’t severely injured, was treated on the scene by paramedics. His wife drove him to Steve Biko Hospital, as the couple is from Pretoria.

No case was opened with the police.
