Victim’s wife arranged killing
Three suspects, and the victim's wife, were sentenced to life in prison for two murders in Ivory Park, Extension 2.
The murders took place in December 2011 and the suspects were sentenced in the Palm Ridge High Court.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the four suspects were arrested for the murder of Mr Patrido Mkhoba and his son during a burglary at their home.
“Mr Mkhoba was asleep with his wife when he was awoken by a noise outside his bedroom door. He was then shot and killed. Mr Mkhoba’s son heard the gunshot and came to investigate. He was also shot and killed. Both men died at the scene,” said W/O Sekgobela.
The case was investigated by Detective Constable Poopedi.
“Three suspects were arrested in connection with the case, Joseph Kubai (39), Juda Kubai (31) and Andrew Nyiko Mashaba (33). During the course of the investigations, the suspects incriminated Mr Mkhoba’s wife, Maria Tsolo, saying she had masterminded the robbery and murder. The suspects said Tsolo had arranged to leave a window open for the men to gain access,” said W/O Sekgobela.
Tsolo was found guilty, along with the three men.
The Ivory Park SAPS acting station commander, Colonel Sontaga Seisa, was impressed with Det Const Poopedi’s work.
“I am happy with Judge Mailula’s decision,” he said.
