54-year-old Mr Michael Sithole was shot and killed during a house robbery in Ivory Park. The incident occurred at around 3am on Saturday morning, last week. Mr Sithole was declared dead at the scene. According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the victim’s wife claimed to hear a noise in their yard. “She said her husband woke up and went to investigate. She then heard a gunshot,” she added. W/O Sekgobela added that the victim’s wife said she saw one armed suspect in her house. “It is believed the suspect told her to go back to sleep. The suspect stole a television set and three cellular phones,” said W/O Sekgobela. A case of murder and house robbery has been opened. “No one has been arrested. We are appealing to residents to come forward with any information which could lead to an arrest. Residents are also urged to not take law into their own hands. Allow the police to fight against crime,”she said. The victim’s wife was too distraught to speak to the press. Mr Sithole was buried in his homeland of Mozambique. He is survived by his two children, wife, mother, father, sisters and brothers.
