Man found murdered outside Builder’s Warehouse

People from a nearby guest house heard screams for help coming from outside, only to find the man lying in a pool of blood

A scream for help was the last sound he made after dragging himself a few meters, his blood trail following behind him.

People from a nearby guest house heard screams for help coming from outside, only to find the man lying in a pool of blood.

According to Sebenza SAPS spokesman, Const Sharon Mahamba, the man was stabbed to death on Monday, October 13 along Besembos Street just outside Builder’s Warehouse.

“The man dragged himself to the nearby guest house and called for help. It was then that people came out to enquire and found him lying in a pool of blood. The police were called and arrived at the scene between 7.30pm and 8pm,” Mahamba said.

The deceased was walking home to Van Riebeeck Park from work when he was attacked. Nothing was stolen from him. He still had his cell phone, wallet and all his belongings.

According to Amanda Green, chairman of Kempton Park CPF, the man’s wife became worried when he did not arrive home by about 7pm.

“When she tried calling his cell phone, a woman picked up and told her there had been an accident and she should come to the scene,” Green said.

“We provided counselling for the woman as well as family members who were on the scene.”

According to Green, ER24 paramedics were on the scene and attempted to save his life but he was certified dead not long after they had arrived. He suffered three stabbed wounds, one on his thigh and two in the chest.

“We want to request people to avoid walking anywhere near the station at night, especially alone. If at all possible, try using alternative routes or at least walk with a group of people. There are robbers out there who hide in the nearby veld.

“Police will investigate this case thoroughly as it is very suspicious. All the clues lead to intent to kill as nothing was stolen from him,” Mahamba explained.

A murder case has been opened.
