
The Olifantsfontein SAPS is appealing to residents to identify a man’s body, which was found in a river next to the MN7 farm in Olifantsfontein.
The body was found on June 13.
According to the Tembisa SAPS communications officer, Constable Tebogo Sesing, three men were hunting in the veld next to the river when they discovered the body. The men contacted the police.
“On arrival, the officers found the body lying in the river. The victim had a wound to his forehead. The victim is estimated to be between 30 to 40 years old. He was wearing a pair of khaki trouser and a tracksuit top,” said Const Sesing.
Constable Sesing said it is still unknown who committed the crime.
“We are asking residents for any information regarding the crime, which could lead to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information can contact the police on 011 316-8020 or 08600 10111. Alternatively, residents can contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Moshoma Matome on 072 534 3879. Information can also be sent via SMS to 32211,” he said.
Const Sesing said the identity of the informant will remain confidential.
“Let us work together to combat crime in our area,” said Const Sesing.
