A 40-year-old man was attacked by members of the community after he allegedly raped and killed a 47-year-old woman, who was a mother of three children.

The woman, from Tswaralepe in Tembisa, was followed from a tavern last night and raped. She managed to run away from her attacker and sought help from members of the community.

“She knocked on the door of people in the area but the residents were too scared to open the door as the woman’s attacker was nearby. They tried to negotiate with him for the woman’s release but the attacker said he did not want money or anything else. He only wanted the woman. He warned that if they open the door for the woman, he would kill them,” said the Tembisan’s journalist, Malebo Debeila.

The woman’s body was discovered this morning in an old car and the SAPS arrested a suspect, who was being attacked by members of the community.

He is currently in police custody.
