The Ivory Park SAPS management is appealing to residents to help with any information regarding three suspects who are terrorising Ivory Park, Extension 6 and 14.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, three suspects entered a tenant’s room in Ivory Park, Extension 14, on Thursday last week.
“The suspects found a couple sleeping and started shooting them. The suspects allegedly took R400 and a cellular phone before fleeing the scene,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela added that the couple were admitted to hospital.
“A case of two counts of attempted murder and house robbery is under investigation. In another incident, in the same section, three suspects entered the room of a pregnant woman during the night. They demanded her cellular phone and to have sex with her. It is believed the victim told them that she was pregnant and HIV positive. The suspects then took turns to rape her,” she added.
The Ivory Park SAPS urges residents to always keep large sums of cash in the bank and to keep valuable items in a safe place.
“It is always best to arrange with people living in the same street as you too be ready at all times to come to the rescue of one another. Exchange phone numbers or establish signalling methods like a whistle, so that people can be made aware to provide support during an emergency. Help victims by informing the SAPS or security companies, or make a noise or switch on the lights,” said W/O Sekgobela.
