64 people injured as stage in community hall collapses

The people on the stage fell about four meters into a void area under the raised stage

Sixty four people were injured when a stage in a community hall in Klopper Park in Elandsfontein collapsed on Sunday afternoon.

Exact detail to the cause of the collapse is still speculative, Chris Botha, Netcare 911 spokesman, said..

Netcare 911 and the provincial ambulance services arrived at the scene and found that the stage in the hall had collapsed. The people on the stage fell about four meters into a void area under the raised stage.

After paramedics triaged the injured they found that the people had sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor. After the injured were treated at the scene by medics they transported them to various hospitals in the area.
