Red Bull Kas’Lami brings in summer with sounds, sun and celebration
Giving local talent wings.
Over 1 600 revellers celebrated the art of music at the Red Bull Kas’Lami on Sunday in Tembisa’s Moriting Park.
Tembisa came alive on Sunday as 1 600 party-goers descended on Moriting Park, braving the sweltering summer temperatures and Highveld thunderstorms, to see their favourite artists take to the stage.
The line-up saw an eclectic mixture of trap-maskandi, hip hop and house sounds as artists like Mashayabuque, BoyznBucks, BlackCoffee and Tembisa’s own Shimza kept the crowd dancing until early Monday morning.
The festival also included performances by various dance crews, including local boys and Red Bull Beat Battle 2013 champions The Prophelaz, live street art by Falko Starr and an exhibition of Negritude Republic’s Modise Sepeng illustration work for the Red Bull Kas’Lami campaign as a nod to the festival’s theme of ‘Celebrating the Art of Music’.
Having lit up Tembisa this year, 2015 will see Red Bull Kas’Lami travel to Kwa-Zulu Natal’s Umlazi.
The Tembisan’s last edition for 2014 (December 19) will include a 12-page special edition dedicated to the Red Bull Kas’Lami Music Festival, which showcased the amazing Tembisa and Mzansi talents.
