According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, 51 suspects were found driving while under the influence of alcohol.
“20 of the suspects were arrested by the Tembisa SAPS, 16 by Sebenza SAPS. The remaining arrests were made by other SAPS stations. 22 people were arrested for being found in possession of dagga. Another 22 suspects were detained for assault and nine for contravening the National Road Traffic Act in Tembisa. Other suspects were arrested for cases ranging for shoplifting, malicious damage to property, theft, possession of stolen property, reckless and negligent driving and one for murder,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela added that the murder suspect was arrested by Sebenza SAPS in Spartan.
“It is alleged the suspect and the victim were colleagues. It is believed the company had a year-end function and one of the men drove into the other’s car. The suspect was angry and it is claimed he pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. Paramedics declared the victim dead on the scene,” she said.
