Brand new stolen car found at Aston Manor guest house

The police will conduct further investigations to see if this is a syndicate operating around Kempton

THE police are investigating the possible involvement of a crime syndicate after a brand new car, stolen at a Middelburg car dealership, was found in the backyard of an Aston Manor guest house.

The red Kia Sportage was found parked and wrapped in a car cover at Bundo Guest House on Glenavon Road on Monday.

According to Capt Jethro Mthsali, spokesman for Kempton Park SAPS, the vehicle was tracked down as a result of a joint operation between Tembisa Crime Intelligence members and Kempton SAPS’ tracing unit.

“The team of policemen received a tip off about the vehicle around March this year. Upon investigation by the two units, the car was located at the guest house,” Mtshali said.

The owner of the guest house, who is believed to be a Zambian, was not in the country at the time of the discovery and was said to be in Botswana.

The police impounded the vehicle and a case of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle was opened.

“We will continue investigations into this case and other similar incidents around Kempton.”
