Suspects awaiting trial escape from Tembisa Court. Two were part of four who locked officers inside their police van during Rabie Ridge incident in November.

Two suspects, awaiting trial, escaped from holding cells at Tembisa Magistrate’s Court after their court apperance for bail application yesterday.

SAPS Gauteng spokesperson Noxolo Kweza has since confirmed police are investigating a case of aiding and abetting escape from police custody.

Kweza said the two suspects were part of a group of four who locked police officer inside their own police van in November in Rabie Ridge.

A video showing the police officers being ordered to get into the back of the police van, soon went viral after the incident.

SAPS arrested three suspects soon after the Rabie Ridge incident.

SAPS urged persons with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line on 32211.
