Two detained for stolen vehicle

The Ivory Park SAPS has arrested two suspects for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle in Ivory Park, Extension 2, on Wednesday last week.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, police officers were patrolling in the area when they received a tip-off from members of the community about the two suspects.

“It is believed the suspects were selling a gold Fiat in Bambanani Street in Ivory Park, Extension 2. On arrival, the officers found the suspects inside the suspected stolen car with no registration number and license disc. The suspects failed to produce the vehicle’s registration number and license disc. The two were arrested and detained at the Ivory Park SAPS,” she said.

W/O Sekgobela added the police have since established that the vehicle was hijacked in Lenasia last week.

“We are appealing to community members who want to buy a vehicle ask the police for advice before they make a decision,” said W/O Sekgobela.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
