SAPS seeks robbery suspects

The Ivory Park SAPS is looking for the suspects who robbed two supermarkets in the Ivory Park area recently.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS’ communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the first robbery occurred at the Pick n Pay at Swazi Inn. The second robbery took place at a Pep store in the Yarona Shopping Complex in Allandale.

“The complainant from Pick n Pay claims he was in his office when he heard a cashier screaming for help. He went to saw a male suspect. The suspect pointed a firearm at him. It is believed the suspect demanded to know where the safe was. It is believed the suspect escorted him to the safe, where another two accomplices were waiting. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money,” she added.

W/O Sekgobela added that the suspects also fled the scene of the Yarona Shopping Complex robbery with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“It is believed there were four suspects and they were all armed. It is alleged that the suspects also took some of the cellular phones that were sold in the store. The SAPS is investigating these crimes. We are appealing to members of the community to help with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects,” she said.
