A man, believed to be in his forties, was found dead next to his vehicle on the M2 highway near the Denver off ramp in Johannesburg South on Thursday morning.
Paramedics from ER24 were called to the scene where they found the man lying in a gutter a few meters away from his vehicle. It appears as if his vehicle broke down next to the M2 highway prior to the incident, Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesman, said.
Metro police officers were patrolling the area when they noticed the vehicle standing next to the road with an open bonnet. On inspection they found the man lying in the gutter and called for medical assistance. Paramedics indicated that the man sustained a wound to his head that appeaed to be a gunshot wound. There was nothing more they could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
The incident was handed over to the local metro police on the scene for further investigation.
