Thieves try to escape with stolen cow in private ambulance

The suspects, who are cousins, appeared in the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Monday

Two men were arrested for allegedly stealing a cow and using an ambulance to make their getaway in Mahwelereng, said Limpopo police in a statement on Monday.

“The two bundled a cow inside a privately owned ambulance oblivious of the fact that it was marked and easily identifiable,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

“Community members contacted the police who quickly set up a roadblock where the duo, with sirens blazing, thought they would not be stopped.”

Mulaudzi said police found a live cow inside the ambulance, together with several bottles of beer.

The suspects, who are cousins, appeared in the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

They were released on a warning and are expected to appear again in January.
