Three suspects were arrested after rolling their getaway car on Saturday, December 27.
The incident happened late afternoon in the vicinity of Koorsboom Street in Glen Marais.
According to posts on Facebook a community policing forum member was patrolling when he saw a suspicious looking Tazz reverse from a property. He heard the house’s alarm had gone off.
A chase ensued and residents, security companies and CPF members stood together in apprehending the suspects.
Corne Coetser posted on Facebook: “We must all work together and this was what happened here. CPF members, residents and even farm workers were great. They searched the farm and traced the suspects. Various security companies were on the scene, as well as the police and metro police.”
Retha Bracher wrote: “The community of Glen Marais ext 2 stood together and credit needs to go to Lyle Bracher, Johan Stegmann, Mike Maree and Robbie Maree who were on the scene first.
Lucy Wolmarans said the fleeing men sped past her son and rolled their vehicle in front of him. He was also involved in catching one of the culprits.
