Man sustains critical injuries in explosion

A man (31) is in a critical condition after sustaining serious burns in an explosion in Jet Park on Thursday.

According to ER24 spokesman, Chitra Bodasing, it is understood the man was standing behind a colleague who was switching off a transformer.

An explosion occurred and oil from the transformer apparently sprayed on the man’s body.

When ER24 paramedics arrived, they found the man outside with colleagues around him, providing first aid.

ER24’s AER24 medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to a hospital in Johannesburg.

His colleague sustained superficial burn wounds. Although he was assessed on the scene, he declined to be transported to hospital.
