Meat thief mysteriously disappears
A thief who tried to sell a braai to the victim’s next door neighbour, got more than what he bargained for when he came back to collect his money.According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the man was arrested at about 4.40pm on Thursday last week on Quintus van der Walt Street in Norkem Park.
“The buyer had a suspicion that the property might have been stolen. She told the suspect to come back the following day to collect his R150. Before the suspect’s return, she called her neighbour to come and have a look at the braai,” explained Molokomme.
Molokomme said the neighbour identified the braai, valued at about R600, as hers. The police were notified and the suspect was arrested.
In another incident earlier that day in Kempton Park West a bicycle thief was apprehended by the community.
“At about 12.05pm, while in the house, the complainant saw a male suspect entering her property and running to the back of the house and returning with her grandson’s bicycle,” said Molokomme.
“The complainant screamed for help and neighbours came to her rescue,” he further added.
Neighbours managed to arrest the suspect (21) in possession of the bicycle and handed him over to the police on their arrival at the scene.
The bicycle was estimated to be worth R700.
