SAPS nabs suspected vehicle thief
The police arrested a 30-year-old man at the corner of September and Masakhane streets in Ivory Park, Extension 2, on Tuesday last week.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, officers from the provincial head office received a tip off about a Tata truck which was abandoned in the street.
“Police officers proceeded to the scene. On arrival, they found the truck which was allegedly hijacked in Secunda. It is claimed the suspect arrived later, driving a white Ford Laser, and parked next to the truck. He was arrested while giving attention to the truck. The police have also established that the suspect’s Ford Laser was reported stolen in Bronkhorstspruit,” she added.
W/O Sekgobela said that a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off was also confiscated from the suspect.
