TWO suspects were arrested for attempted house-breaking on Katakoeroe Street in Birch Acres on Thursday afternoon last week at about 2.30pm.
The arrest was made by Norkem Park SAPS and backed up by two members of the metro police, said Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.
“Our sector 2 patrol members received a complaint of a house break-in in progress. On their way to the scene the EMPD members saw the sector vehicle and followed them,” said Molokomme.
On arrival at the scene, the officers spotted two male suspects trying to break down the house’s door.
“When they saw the officers, they tried to run away but were cornered and arrested,” he added.
Upon further investigation, Molokomme said the officers found that the suspects had removed the gate from the rail and were in possession of a crow bar, two pairs of hand gloves, a school bag and the keys to a VW Golf.
“When questioned about the keys, the suspects took police to Birch Gate Spar where they had parked the car.”
The grey hatchback VW Golf was impounded for further investigations to find out whether it could be linked to other crimes.
