Tip-off leads to arrest of man (25) for possession of unlicensed firearm
A 25-year-old man was arrested over the weekend for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Ivory Park, Extension 2.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the SAPS received a tip-off from community members about the suspect who was walking along a street holding a firearm.
“The officers proceeded to the street and found the suspect. They stopped the suspect and searched him. The officers found a silver revolver with six rounds on his waist. The serial number was filed off. The suspect was arrested,” she said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
