THREE suspects who tried to rob a man with a toy gun on North Rand Road were overpowered by the victim and community members and arrested.
According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesman for the Kempton Park SAPS, the suspects attempted to rob the man on January 9 at about 9.50pm. The victim was waiting for his friend outside the block of flats where he stays.
“The suspects came up behind him and tried to search him while one of them pulled out a “firearm”. A fight ensued between the men,” Mtshali said.
Luckily, residents came out to help the victim and called the police. The suspects were arrested and it was later established that the firearm was in fact a toy gun.
The three men, aged 23, 33 and 37, face charges of attempted robbery.
