FIVE suspects were arrested in two incidents of housebreaking and theft in the Norkem Park policing area.
The first incident took place on Korhaan Street in Birch Acres in the early hours January 19.
“The owner of the house was awakened by a noise. Upon investigation he found the sound was coming from inside the ceiling,” said Norkem Park police spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.
Norkem Park officers apprehended two suspects while still in the ceiling. The two were found in possession of a bag containing electrical cables.
In the second incident, Molokomme said at about 8.50pm on January 18, members of PHS Cops Security arrested three male suspects who were caught breaking into a house on Waterjaar Street in Van Riebeeck Park.
“The security officers were responding to a panic alarm. On their arrival, they managed to arrest three suspects who were removing electrical wiring, plugs, water taps, tools and clothing from the property,” explained Molokomme.
The property is being renovated. Molokomme said the value of the stolen property was about R40 000.
