SAPS warns residents about hijacking
The Ivory Park SAPS is appealing to local taxi operators to be careful and to make sure their vehicles are safe at all the times.
“Operating during the night may lead to the vehicles being hijacked. The SAPS is experiencing several cases of hijackings in and around Ivory Park. This follows the recent case of a 20-year-old man who was hijacked by three unknown men. The suspects stole a blue Toyota Tazz. The victim was travelling from Tswelopele Extension to Clayville,” said Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela.
She added that the three suspects allegedly opened the vehicle’s doors and entered the car while the victim was travelling along Republic Road next to Tswelopele Extension.
“It is claimed one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim while another suspect was armed with a knife. The suspects instructed the victim to exit the car and then assaulted him. It is believed the victim was robbed his cellular phone and cash, before the suspects fled in his car,” she added.
