THREE Soweto men were arrested at the gate of a Van Riebeeck Park house on Tuesday, trying to get access to the property.
According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, officers were patrolling around Van Riebeeck Park when they received a complaint shortly before 1pm that there were suspicious persons at the gate of a house on Pomelo Street.
“On arrival at the scene they cornered three male suspects who had already broken the main gate lock. Upon further investigation, they found the suspects in possession of housebreaking implements – a pick and pair of pliers,” explained Molokomme.
Molokomme said the owner of the house had left his property at about 10.30am for Alberton. He later received a call from his neighbour informing him of the incident.
A blue Toyota Tazz was also recovered at the scene. Police impounded the vehicle for further investigation to determine if it could be linked to other crimes.
The suspects, aged 22 and 35, will face charges of possession of housebreaking implements and malicious damage to property.
