SEBENZA SAPS caught four suspects, aged between 24 and 41, stealing metal and iron a steel company on Terrace Road in Sebenza at midnight on Saturday night.
According to the station’s spokesman, Const Sharon Tshotshotsho, police received a tip off that security guards were involved in theft at a particular metal and steel company in the industrial area.
“Const Sylvester Mbuli and Const Khavula arrived at the property, to find four security guards loading metal and iron into a security vehicle,” she said.
Khavula said two of the men were from Mamba Security, while the other two were from Mokopane Security. They were all arrested for theft.
“On interrogating the suspects, police found they had already sold a first load of metal to a scrap yard. The owner of the scrap yard was fined for buying stolen goods,” she added.
On the same day, Tshotshotsho said two more security guards had also been brought in by Langa Security for being involved in the theft of metal.
A total of six men will face charges of theft.
