Taxi boss gunned down

A 60-year-old taxi owner was shot and killed on Friday evening at about 5.30pm.

He was shot at the corner of Mooi River and Maraboe streets in Norkem Park.

According to the Ivory Park Tembisa SAPS Cluster spokesperson, Warrant Officer Nelda Hlase, it is believed that Mr Rapson Mbazima Ngoveni was driving a grey Chevrolet Trailblazer when he was shot.

He was stopped at a stop sign when a white Toyota Tazz allegedly stopped next to him. The occupants opened fire on Mr Ngoveni.

He was declared dead at the scene.

“The SAPS found 15 spent cartridges at the scene,” said W/O Hlase.

The SAPS believes the victim was returning from a taxi meeting owing to a diary found inside the vehicle.

Mr Ngoveni hails from Giyani in Limpopo.
