DETECTIVES of Kempton Park SAPS are request the community to help identify and trace the family of a man who was killed after being hit by a train last year.

The accident happened at about 5.45pm on August 21 between Kempton Park and Van Riebeeck Park Railway Stations. He was certified dead on the scene.

His identity could not be determined by Home Affairs, even after police provided them with his fingerprints. Only his facial photo was taken. The deceased was wearing blue jeans and a blue and white checked shirt on the day of his death.

“His body must be claimed by his family, so he can have a proper funeral. If it takes much longer the state will have no option but to give him a paupers burial,” spokesman Capt Jethro Mtshali said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Adolph Lukhele on 011-393-8600 or 072-840-4358.

EXPRESS apologises for the graphic nature of the photograph but unfortunately given the context of the article and plea from the police, this photo has to be used. It is the only piece of evidence that can be used to identify this man.
