Feisty Ivy needs a new home after nearly dying

She was found by Kempton SPCA about a month ago on the street with severe bite wounds to her head

SHE might be a feisty little puppy but that was not the case with Ivy a month ago.

Now four months old, Ivy (a black X Spaniel), was found in Rhodesfield as a stray a month ago. She had a big gaping hole in her head, caused by bite wounds – and she was close to death.

“We didn’t even think she’d make it when we first brought her in. We had actually given up hoping, we’d just help her in having a peaceful death,” Charmaine, an inspector at Kempton SPCA, remembers.

“She just had no life in her when I was driving her to the vet; her little body was just hanging on the seat by itself because she was too weak to sit up on her own.”

Ivy was taken to Glen Marais Animal Hospital where she was treated by Dr OM Nel for the head injury. She also survived two infections and other complications such as a temperature high.

Now back to life and as feisty as ever, the little fighter is looking for a home where she can be loved and taken care of.

If you would like to adopt Ivy, please contact Kempton SPCA on 011-975-6537/8.

Please be aware that adoption fees do apply and a thorough home assessment check will be done by SPCA inspectors to make sure your home is suitable and safe to house a pet.
