Local lass hits the right notes
Tembisa-based solo artist, Ms Tumelo "Melo" Tshetlo, is going places in the music industry.
Ms Tshetlo, who is a pianist, singer and songwriter, terms her sound Motswako Soul, which is a combination of Setswana and English lyrical poetry on a soulful, jazzy melody.
Her two singles, titled June and Thato, are currently being played on Metro FM, YFM, Tshwane FM, Power FM and North West FM.
MsTshetlo’s songs mostly cover love in all it’s different forms.
Mafikeng born, Ms Tshetlo works as a journalist in Caxton Community Newspapers’ East Rand branch.
She was introduced to music at the age of six when she took classical piano lessons.
“I started by composing music and exploring different genres of music, which helped define my sound,” she said.
Performing with a five-piece band, Ms Tshetlo’s shows are guaranteed to move audiences and touch the core of people’s hearts.
She promotes her music as an entertainer at weddings, gospel events and other corporate events. She has also performed three times on Morning Live.
Her first single, Thato, is a glamorous township love story that speaks of how true love often overcomes many obstacles.
Her smooth, melodic song titled June comes together with the house tunes of talented producer, Dj Guru.
June is a story about a lover with a plea to a partner to snuggle up next to them and shield them from the coldness that comes with every June.
“It is a feel-good song that is perfect for radio and that will surely win the listeners’ hearts,” she said.
