THREE men in their late 20s hit a club for a good night out after having stolen a car.
On February 8 at about 1.20am, Kempton SAPS’ W/O Godfrey Nguma received information on the police radio about the hijacking of a silver Toyota Yaris in Ivory Park. The officer immediately set out to investigate.
According to police spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, Nguma and his partner spotted the vehicle parked at Club 88 on Pretoria Road in the Kempton CBD. The car’s lights were still on and the suspects were inside.
“When the suspects saw the police van, they tried to flee on foot but two of them were caught by the officers, while one managed to get away,” Mtshali confirmed.
Upon searching the vehicle, a toy gun and a Blackberry cell phone (presumed to belong to the victim of the hijacking) were found.
The suspects will appear in court on charges of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and suspected stolen goods.
