Two in Yaris terrorise Van Riebeeck Park residents
A suspect involved in holding up a mother and daughter at their Van Riebeeck Park home on Monday before robbing the house and taking the daughter’s vehicle, was arrested hours after the incident.
Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said members of the Tembisa tactical response team made the arrest in Tembisa.
Molokomme said a 23-year-old woman had arrived at her Kurkhout Street home at 7am. After parking her car and opening the gate, she was attacked by three suspects.
“One of them pointed a firearm at her, took her car keys and forced her into the house. Inside they found her mother and tied up both.”
The suspects took electrical appliances, cell phones, a laptop, two plasma TVs and a Play Station, which they loaded into the victim’s Hyundai before driving off.
At 1pm, police recovered the vehicle parked in a yard in Phomolong Section.
“Upon searching the premises, police arrested the suspect in possession of the car keys of the stolen vehicle. The stolen property was not recovered,” said Molokomme.
The suspect (47) was arrested and will face charges of house robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
His accomplices are still on the run.
