Toddler (3) survives fatal crash at Erasmus Farm
Two young men lost their lives in the collision
Two people were killed and five others injured on Saturday afternoon when two vehicles collided on the R23 near Earmus Farm.
ER24 paramedics from the Johannesburg East branch arrived on the scene and found both vehicles in the left lane of the road.
Russel Meiring from ER24 said paramedics found that two men, both in their 20s, sitting in the front of one of the vehicles, had both sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
Three other occupants, who were in the back of the same vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, a three-year-old boy and young male, had all sustained critical injuries. Paramedics carefully removed the patients from the vehicle and treated them for their injuries.
The two occupants in the other car, who were found in the front seats, were seriously injured. Paramedics treated and stabilised the patients and transported them to The Life Glynwood Hospital.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
