Social club assists pupils

The Bakgotsi Social Club sealed its promise with Tembisa High School when members once again brought new school uniforms to disadvantaged pupils.

The handover took place on Thursday last week.

The local social club donated brand new school uniforms to 12 needy pupils. The uniforms included a school jersey, trousers, a shirt, a blazer, a sweater, a jacket, a skirt, a blouse, socks and shoes.

According to the Bakgotsi Social Club’s chairman, Mr Gorden Mkhize, the members are hoping to grow the project and give more to other needy pupils in the Tembisa area.

“We are pleased to be helping where we can. We try our best to give what we can to children in need. It is not nice for anyone to attend school with torn clothes or barefoot. We only wish other social clubs could take part and help these pupils with new school uniforms,” he added.

Mr Mkhize said they are encouraging pupils to love school and to focus more on their education.

“There is no good life without education. Again, there is no shortcut to success. Earn your achievements by working hard. We are happy we have kept our promise to Tembisa High School for the past 10 years,” said Mr Mkhize.

Tembisa High School’s principal, Ms Elizabeth Mpakwa, said they are happy with the contribution to the school.

“We appreciate the donation. We are monitoring the pupils who received donations and they doing well academically,” said Ms Mpakwa.
