Woman (21) arrested for perjury

A 21-year-old woman was arrested for opening a false case of rape and kidnapping with the police on Tuesday last week.

According to the Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, the victim claimed to hear people in her room while she was sleeping.

“It is believed she found two men in her room. The men allegedly forced her to close her eyes, took her outside to a nearby veld and took turns raping her,” he said.

Const Sesing added that after raping her, the two men took the woman home and demanded a cellular phone and cash.

The suspects then fled the scene.

According to Const Sesing, police officers investigated the case and discovered that the women was lying.

The 21-year-old woman was arrested and detained at the Tembisa SAPS,” he added.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of perjury.

“We are appealing to residents to not open false cases with the police. It is a criminal offence and they will be arrested,” he said.
