A primary school teacher had been wounded in the leg by a man he tried to get home safely on Friday night.Pieter Jacobus Roos (59) allegedly shot Werner Botha while Botha and another man took him (Roos) home from Dros where Roos had been drinking.
Roos briefly appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with attempted murder. The state withdrew the case pending further investigations, Kempton SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said.
Roos allegedly shot Botha at about 8pm outside the suspect’s home in Glen Marais.
According to a reliable source, Botha had just arrived at the restaurant when he was asked by an ex-manager to help him get Roos home.
“The victim agreed to help getting the suspect home. The guy’s wife was called to let her know about the situation.
“When they got to the man’s house, the victim and ex-manager tried to help him out of the car. That was when Roos allegedly took out his gun and started shooting,” the source said.
Botha was taken to hospital where he was treated for a flesh wound.
